“A happy marriage is about three things: memories of togetherness, forgiveness of mistakes and a promise to never give up on each other.”

David, our union turned 5 today and I’m so honored. I’m honored to be your partner, honored to be your friend, and honored to be your wife. We’ve had the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, but one thing is for damn sure. There is no one I would have rather done any of it with than you.

What I love most about you is your patience with me and the way you love me regardless of all of my flaws. When I take a look at myself I know that in and of itself is truly the temperament of someone who REALLY loves me. I know I can be a piece of work.

Not only are you patient with me, but you have a true kind and giving heart. You always make me want to be a better woman. My favorite times with you are when you make fun of me and crack jokes because I know that’s a way you show your affection. I also love when you have an idea you want to talk about. Because you’re so laid back, times when you’re visibly excited are very few and far between . So when I do get a glimpse of that I love to soak it all in.

I love how you father our son. Ya’ll have the best relationship. I have to say that I do I get a little jealous on those occasions he prefers to be with daddy, but that’s just a testament to what he sees in you. You’re just awesome. You’re a wonderful provider, our support system, and you make things happen even when you’re getting them done under the radar.

I pray that we not only grow as a union, as partners, and as husband and wife, but that you get all that you’ve hoped for to grow into the person you want to be. However I can serve you to help you get there, always know that I’m your wife and I am here for you.

So, David, here’s to the 11 years we’ve known each other, the 2 children we made together, and the 5 years of marriage that we’ve learned and grown through. I can’t promise anything and all I know is that I don’t know everything. But one thing I do know is I love you forever. We’ve got 5 years down and a lifetime to go. No matter what, I’m staying strapped in for the ride.

Happy Anniversary, David.
I love you.
