I love Christmas! It’s my favorite time of year. Everything from Christmas songs, to baking, and shopping are so nostalgic for me. Even more, I love sprucing up my house to make it feel like Christmas! Like all things décor and space styling in my home, I love to put my own flavor in the mix and give everything a little glam. Why not put lots of effort in putting together a glam Christmas tree? To help you get your Christmas tree glam on, I’ve come up with 5 simple steps that will get you well on your way.

1. Go For Sparkly or Shiny Non-Traditional Tree

Pick a tree that’s not your normal run of the mill tree. I prefer faux trees, only because they are much more manageable and don’t require watering, or cleaning up the pines once they’ve fallen. Plus, there are so many options to turn sparkling and shiny faux trees into glam x-mas trees. For a true upscale glam look, I keep my eye on flocked trees, and trees that are silver or gold. Last year we purchased the 9ft version of this flocked tree for our home. At the end of the day, A unique tree serves as the foundation for your glam Christmas tree masterpiece, so get creative!

2. Pick a Color Theme and Stick to It

This is usually the biggest challenge for me since I’m so indecisive. There are so many options to choose from, and I always just have to be sure I nail it. The truth is, you really can do anything. Typically, tones of gold, silver and white are associated with glam, and this is always the easiest for tree décor. However, you can totally get non-traditional. Overall, the goal is just to make sure that your colors pair well with each other. If you really want to challenge yourself, try a color combination that is high contrast, like pink with navy blue, or even mixed metals.

3. You’ll Need Lots and Lots of Sparkle

It goes without saying that with glam style, you want to have lots and lots of sparkle. This is definitely needed for building up your glam christmas tree. Things like rhinestones, glitter, pearls, shine, and high gloss are what give glam it’s name. Make sure you look for ornaments and other items that scream these things! I love to shop Z Gallerie, but you don’t really even have to spend a ton of money to make your tree look great. You can easily find glam christmas trees, decor, and even glam christmas cards to give you the look for less. Places like HomeGoods and Amazon are great. If you’re looking to save coins, you can even score a unique find in the isle of the Big Lots Christmas decorations! I found a beautiful gold and silver pair of glittered metal pinecones at World Market for only $6! Again, just look for things that have lots of sparkle. Don’t worry about overdoing it…you want a glam tree. Duh!

4. Get Creative with Styling the Bottom of Your Tree

You want to keep a cohesive look overall, so you’ve got to make sure you dress up the bottom of your tree too. After all, it is a part of the tree, and will totally affect your overall look. You don’t want that ugly tree stand showing! Take a look at tree skirts that have shine and shimmer, or even glitter. Take it a step further and try a sexy tree collar. We have a beaded tree collar from Pier 1. I got last year. You may even be able to catch it on sale right now!

5. Do the MOST with Your Tree Topper!

Ok, now this is the big deal. The tree topper is the focal point of your tree, and you really want it to stand out - in a huge way. It should be the Beyoncé of your tree! I prefer to make my own by using a ton of elegant and glamorous looking tree picks. All you have to do is just stick the picks in, and if you have a faux tree it works easiest! I got all of my tree picks for my tree topper from Michael’s last year, and I went ALL out! I got 4 of everything so that I could stick 2 of each pick on each side, using one for the front of the tree, and one towards the back of the tree. I used picks with high gloss, shine, rhinestones, glitter, shimmer, and anything else that screamed Glam Christmas tree I also added feathers. Like I said, DO THE MOST!
